Why I love utter confidence in spell-check . . .

Because grading would be beyond hellish if it weren't for the occasional "viscous attack" or "follicle symbol" or "glutinous Falstaff."

Sweet Fancy Moses**

I have graded 56 research papers (!) and 35 essay exams (!) in the past 48 hours, and--here's the part that confuses me--I am not insane or dead or even cranky. This would make sense if I were on the "I AM FINISHED!" high, but no no, oh no: I have 20 longer research papers and 55 essay exams left to grade before I can tabulate final grades. I still seem to have managed to convince myself that everything is fine, just fine. Please explain.

**Yes--I totally stole this phrase (which I had never heard and which I love and which I will now be using with alarming frequency, making me sound like a West Virginian grandmother who wears Quacker Factory sweaters from QVC and smokes Benson & Hedges Deluxe Ultra-Light cigarettes) from the incomparable fug girls.

Medusa's little piggy (went wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee all the way home)

Via Clare.

Hello all! As my alter-piggy suggests, I am back on my feet and grooving right along. I am desperately behind in my work but doing it and, most importantly and for the first time in months, feeling like I can handle it. Have much to report and hope to blog regularly after final grades are in and manuscript revisions sent.

(Note to wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee googler: Yes, the title is a holiday gift to you. I know I am enabling you and all, but I feel as though we already share a kind of special co-dependent bond.)
